  1. I assume these names were pulled from the group on Facebook. My question is, is there any differentiation on this list between students who are selling their tickets for face value versus students who are attempting to make a profit? I am just curious.

  2. If it was clear that face value was being asked, they would be omitted

  3. yes. i hate the huskies. instead of reselling my tickets for games i cannot attend, I should keep them so neither me nor another student can attend.

It's not our fault students have foolishly put themselves out there willing to pay 400% face value.

If you had a pack of tickets to games you cannot attend and someone is holding 4x the face value in front of your face and you say no, good for you. But I'm going to take the money and move on with my day.

  4. Uconn basketball lottery system is so flawed. The university says this system is the most "fair", but it's not. It doesn't take into account of fandom and people who actually truly want to be at the games. When the system has others selling the tickets for 3x the price, it's only hurting the community.

Look at West Virginia University's system. They do have a lottery system, but they also have what they call "loyalty points". Every home basketball game that a student attends, they swipe their ID and receive one loyalty point. The following year, those with the most loyalty points receive priority for tickets over those who never went to a game. This is even better for the team, as the student section will actually consist of true Uconn basketball fans, and not individuals who are going for the heck of it.

And selling tickets to games you can't attend is not the problem. It's individuals who sign up for the lottery with no intentions of watching the game, but for making a profit.

  5. So the title of this blog is inaccurate.

the true issue is UConn having a flawed system. The Huskies make a profit off of their loyal fans but can't pay them the same respect with having a fair lottery.

this doesn't mean people who take advantage of this flaw hate the huskies.

  6. Yes it does. If you entered the lottery with the intention of taking advantage of the broken system and not to attend the basketball games, you hate the huskies.

  9. dude youre an idiot and need to get a life for going through all this effort to expose people, like what is someone gonna do with that persons phone number call them and complain? youre insane

  10. Do realize that is the exact emotion I was hoping to create with this blog. This is supposed to upset people. Nothing was posted that individuals did not willingly advertise. What others do with this information is their prerogative. This is supposed to get people talking. If people aren't talking, nothing gets changed. If it takes an insane idiot in need of a life to get this done, sign me up.

  11. There's absolutely nothing wrong with selling tickets for the amount of money people are willing to pay. It's called supply and demand. People wouldn't pay the money if they weren't in such high demand, read a book. I camped out for Nova last year in 10 degree weather and notre dame in 30, and if I won the lottery, there would be nothing stopping me from selling my second set of XL tickets for whatever I can get for them. Yeah, the systems flawed, but it is what it is. Trolling on people on a blog for doing something you believe is wrong is ignorant and dumb. If you really want to change it, start a petition and go to the president or AD, because this blog is literally going to get you nowhere.

    ReplyDelete
  12. If you only knew. For years we've been petitioning, asking for meetings, etc. They have got us no where. This is the next step. PS, how was the view of the back of my head?

    ReplyDelete
  13. sorry brah, first in line at notre dame. literally against the door

    ReplyDelete
  14. Then you should understand what this is all about, the fans. Your "it is what it is" attitude was not shared by the people around you at the Notre Dame game.

  15. Why would anyone put their name in the lottery, one that contains people that actually want to go to the games, and then sell their tickets for ridiculous prices to those who were not picked? The only logical reason would be so they could profit off the unlucky people who were not picked, seeing as how you know the dates of the games in advance and not being able to attend is just another reason not to enter the lottery in the first place. Sure, people are willing to pay large amounts of money, but that's only because of the circumstances under which some people are selling their tickets. Of course people are going to bid for them if you tell them to, and pay more than they should, but come on, we'll all be broke in a few years anyway if you aren't already, so why sell both your tickets and self respect to the highest bidder? I'm not going to direct this to anyone specific because that would be as bad as what these people are doing and I sincerely hope that no one harasses these people on the list, but this is directed at anyone who sells their tickets for wayyy more than they're worth in terms of money and allowing people to empty out their pockets so you can make a quick buck. It's disappointing more than anything that anyone would do this to their fellow huskies. If you're going to sell, at least be fair and sell for face value. That's definitely not nearly as bad.

  16. They key phrase in that last post was "fellow huskies." Huskies should be looking out for each other, not taking advantage of each other.

  18. Seems like the lottery didn't work out too well for jonathan this year.....

  19. One of my friends on this list has probably gone to more basketball games than you have! Its just she's traveled with the UConn pep bands the past few years to a mixture of home and away games INCLUDING final four. Unfortunately, this year she won't be able use all of her tickets from the lottery (that she entered to be sure she could go to all the women's games) because she'll have a few free seats in her uniform cheering on the team. I'm just wondering what you would suggest to redeem her TRUE husky status again?
